About

Welcome to Give Us This Day Our PB&J!

I’m so glad you stopped by. I hope you’ve brought your appetite, because this is a blog dedicated to serving soul food. Here, you will literally find nourishment for your heart and spirit. New menu items are added weekly, but the main ingredient is always the same.

The main ingredient here is God our Creator. Whatever name you call Him by, to each of us He can be our PBJ.

God is a lot like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. No really, I’m serious. It’s a shame, too, because all too often we treat God like a formal meal at a gourmet restaurant to be enjoyed only on special occasions. Sometimes we relax a little and think of Him more as a weekly get-together with fiends at our favorite diner. But God is our daily Bread of Life (see John 6:35), or, as I like to put it, He is our PBJ.

Think about it, this ooey-gooey standby of a sandwich. Not formal or stiff, this is sustenance for the body and soul. You can grab it and take it with you when you’re on the go. It fills you up and gets you through the day when you only have 30 seconds to fix a meal. It comforts you. Maybe it reminds you of days when someone lovely made you lunch, took care of all your needs, and made you feel special just for being you.

That’s God. He’s something you can take with you wherever you go. He’s there to nourish you in the deepest recesses of your soul. He can fill you up and renew your strength so you can get through another day.

This blog is dedicated to a loving God who gives us this day our daily bread, or, as I like to put it, our PB&J.

I hope these stories will nourish you and strengthen you on your own journey. If you’d like, you can sign up over on the right sidebar to receive email updates of new post as they become available. It’s my “delivery” food service to you (and don’t worry, there’s no SPAM. This is a junk food free zone 😉 ). We all need hope, we all need encouragement, and we all need Jesus to be our PB&J.

God bless you, and thanks for reading.

  1. Audrey – I love this analogy! It’s spot on. We know He’s there if we need Him, when really we need to have that sandwich every day. 🙂

  2. I love how connected Jesus to PPJ’s. You have an awesome view of things.
I always thought of Jesus more like a friend that you ‘d invite over for tea than someone you’d have over for a special dinner I love this.
Somewhere on here…..I’ve been all over, I commented about this being a food blog. At that time I was still expecting recipes .
Yet, This is better. You are feeding our souls through Jesus.
I am in Blogging 101 with you.
You have one of the best blogs I have seen.
Easy to read. Easy to navigate.
